FAQ

Do I need a referral?

No, In Australia Physiotherapists are first contact practitioners, meaning no referral is required. If your Doctor or Specialist has provided you with a referral please bring it along.

Do you accept private health insurance?

We accept all Private Health Insurance with extras. HICAPS claiming facility is available for on the spot processing. The rebate will differ depending on your level of cover so I recommend speaking to your Health Insurance company first.

Am I eligible for Medicare funded sessions?

Some patients may be eligible for a Chronic Disease Management plan (formerly EPC), allowing them up to 5 subisided Allied Health sessions per year. Eligible patients are those deemed to have a chronic medical condition. Musculoskeletal conditions such as Neck or Lower Back Pain, and pelvic floor conditions such as Incontinence, Pelvic Organ Prolapse and Pelvic Pain are generally considered chronic conditions (if you have had symptoms for at least 6 months).

You will need to speak to your GP to organise your CDM management plan and bring this along to your first appointment.

Please note: you will be required to pay the gap fee between what the plan covers (approx. $54.50 per session) and our scheduled fees as we are a specialist service.

How long does my appointment go for?

Initial appointment are 60 minutes duration. Follow up appointments are usually 30 minutes unless there are multiple conditions or previously discussed otherwise. Clinical exercise and Pilates are 45 minutes duration.

Prior to your first appointment:

Please arrive 5 minutes before your initial appointment to allow you adequate time to fill in your new patient registration (if you haven’t already done so online).

Please bring with you any doctors or specialist referrals that you might have.

Any previous documentation or investigation reports from other health professionals regarding you condition may be helpful.

What should I expect in my first physiotherapy consult?

We allow plenty of time in your first consult to discuss your condition. Usually this involves quite personal questions (especially if you have a pelvic floor consult).

If you are visiting for a pelvic floor related condition then a vaginal examination may be best practice for assessment of your pelvic floor. If this is required we will discuss this with you on the day of your consult, and there is no obligation to do so if you do not feel comfortable.

Can I bring my baby or children?

Absolutely, your baby / children are always more than welcome to join.

What to do if you need to cancel within 24 hours notice?

If you cancel within 24 hours or do not attend your appointment there will be a late cancellation fee. We thank you in advance for your understanding. Please contact us directly if you believe you have exceptional circumstances.
