When to see a Women’s Health Physiotherapist

A women’s health physiotherapist has additional qualifications so that they can treat any dysfunction of the pelvic floor and pregnancy related conditions. Common complaints include:

  • Bladder or bowel symptoms such as:

    • Leakage with coughing, sneezing or running

    • Increased urge to go to the toilet with or without leakage

    • Increased frequency of toilet stops

    • Prolapse symptoms such as heaviness, a bulge or dragging below

  • Musculoskeletal complaints such as:

    • Pregnancy-related pelvic girdle pain

    • Pregnancy-related back or neck pain

    • Abdominal separation

    • Carpal tunnel and wrist pain – De Quervain’s syndrome

    • Coccyx pain

    • Rib pain
